Monday 03/10/11

This year seems to be moving so fast, however we still have a chance to do some group operating.  We discussed what we could do for 7th Banstead Scouts on the Jota weekend. We agreed to do Saturday the 15th and attempt to show some of the more modern aspects of amateur radio.

Chris and Steve spent some time looking at another 2 metre linear amplifier which was putting out low power.

Andy and Mick asked some questions on the full licence which they are studying.

All in all another good evening.

Monday 26/09/2011

There was some operating on PSK31 in the back room by Andy, Mick and Lawrence.

I took a faulty 2 metre linear amplifier and circuit along to our play night in Banstead. While I did not fix it, it did generate a lot of discussion. It has a switching fault in that it the relays stay engaged when the PA goes into transmit.

Let’s see what turns up next Monday

Monday 19/09/2011

Last Monday turned into an operating meeting in one part of the hall with some military radios in use as well as some PSK31.

A picture of the PSK32 operating on Monday night in Banstead.

Those of us who are trainers also attended a training meeting to set date for the various courses we will be doing over the next year. Monday night seemed like a good time to get the trainers together because most of us attend anyway.

Lots to do and see of just have a cupper and a natter, all are welcome :-)

Monday 12/09/2011

Another fun night in Banstead with lots going on, this is always the case. Alex turned up with his FT857, he wanted some advice and to test his radio and ATU. Derek turned up and did some operating in the back room

Steve showed us his new CW filter he has made. It works very well, Chris took a video of the unit in operation.

While all this was happening Neil and I were playing and being very silly with a windup Meger. The video shows all :-)

Monday 05/09/2011

Not much to report this week after SSB field day last weekend. I had a slow week recovering, Monday night turned into a chat evening and very little operating.

However Chris (2E0CTH) published this video on the Bottom of FormSutton and Cheam Radio Society - Practical group facebook page.

And a couple of antenna pictures from Steve (G1MPW):

Next time we hope to do better and see more members on the day.
