Monday 23/04/12

Monday is radio play night again.  I managed to complete my 4:1 balun and after testing It has an SWR of less than 1.3 to 1 from 1.8Mhz to 60Mhz. I need to get this on the air now.

Chris was helping Alex by answering some HF questions.

Thanks to Stuart for the picture

Denis and Stuart managed to get our outside HF antenna in a permanent location which will make operation more enjoyable.

Monday 16/04/2012

I wish these sessions were longer, and then I could take part in all or the events. This Monday there was some operating on 2 metres, Balun testing and some good technical discussions. Chris did take some pictures but luckily for you he did not send them to me.

A number of the group have asked if we can have a talk on Valves (Tube) Technology. I will try and arrange this in the next few weeks.

We hope to see those of you who haven’t been for a few weeks soon.

Monday 09/04/12

No meeting this Monday due to Easter. After a break I’m looking forward to our next meeting. This is a good time to catch up with what’s been happening and see what others have been working on.

Monday the 16th we need to start planning for our special event on Saturday 19/05/12. I have now been given our pitch and now need to start getting the kit together. Operators are needed which should be good fun.

Monday 02/04/12

This Monday was our last Monday before the Easter break.

More testing of the Balun, this week by strung up an antenna in the scout hut and tested the results. Then some more head scratching.

Some more operating took place this week with the Kenwood TS 2000 on VHF.

I set my Dstar hotspot up and this was made available for those who were playing with Dstar.

All this and various topics discussed as well as plenty of tea and coffee.

The Banstead Scout Hut will be closed Easter Monday 09/04/2012. We will be back to normal Monday 16/04/2012.

Monday 26/03/2012

As amateurs we are always looking for something better than we have.  Some of us spent the evening trying to make a better Balun than the one we developed a few weeks ago.

Chris and Laurence did some revision as well as some operating.

Next Monday is the last one before Easter and we look forward to seeing you. If you can’t make it, have a happy Easter and good DX.
