Monday 20/08/2012

The Scout Hall will be closed on Monday 27th of August 2012 due to the bank holiday. We will be back to normal on Monday the 3rd of September 2012.

Last Monday we had a meeting to discuss our upcoming weekend doing SSB Field Day at the Hop Farm in Paddocks Wood, Kent. A kit list has been drawn up and Darren is talking to the owner about the weekend of the 1st and 2ns of September.

We also went to watch the International Space Station pass over at around 21:00 local time.

Some of us had a trip out on Saturday 25/08/2012 to 2O12L the Olympic special event. Martin (M0SGL) , Steve (G1MPW), Denis (M0NDJ), Neil (M0ZEY), Connor (2E0ZEY) and me (M1MRB) had a good day and all managed some operating time.

Monday 13/08/2012

Another busy night in Banstead at the Scout Hall. Firstly a number of us had a training meeting to discuss the future training dates for our next batch of training courses.

Chris, Steve and John were outside fixing Chris’s generator which is now working fine. The younger members were playing with slow scan TV as well at operating HF.

Other discussions were taking part in the hall of a radio nature.

We often use GB3NS late Monday nights as we drive home. KJ4DEM, Ben, from North Carolina called on Echolink through GB3NS tonight and spoke to Chris (2E0CTH) and Martin (M0SGL). I had left early this Monday but hopefully I will get the chance to work him next week.

The TS 2000 was out and being used by the younger members again. They were decoding slow scan TV.

Colin was over from Ireland and Martin (M0SGL) had suggested we recorded a round table promoting the group for the ICQPODCAST.  Martin turned up with his recording gear and a good round table was recorded.

Other radio topics were also discussed during the evening including mag mount and plastic cars.

Sometimes we do a lot and other time we just have a good natter. While the younger members had the club Kenwood TS-2000 out and operating on VHF the rest of us had a general chat about a number of radio topics.

Another very good evening with plenty of Tea, Coffee and biscuits.
