Monday 23/07/2012

The Scout all was closed last Monday but this did not stop us having great fun playing radio. We met up in a car park about a quarter of a mile from the scout hut. Denis had arrived early and hidden some transmitters. On arrival Denis (M0NDJ) gave us instructions and issued us with the tracing gear.

Those that turned up had a good time before it got dark. I think we will do this again sometime.

Monday 16/07/2012

This Monday turned into a multi-meter fixing day. I got given a small multi-meter for my collection which I took to show the guys. John turned up with an AVO 8 and AVO 7. After checking both meters were found to require batteries although the AVO 8 had its 15 volt battery fitted the wrong way round. The AVO 7 had some of its 9 volt connectors missing and was temporary rewired for testing.

Steve turned up with an old Racal Bench Digital Multi-meter and we spent some time looking at this meter as well.

Chris did some more work on his voice keyer project which is almost complete.

The younger member spent some time operating the Kenwood TS-2000.

The Church who owns the Scout hall are using it this Monday night (23/07/12), therefore we can’t use it. For those of you who want to meet up Monday, Denis is going to organise a radio fox hunt. We plan to meet at the car park at the end of The Drive. This is only a few hundred metres from the scout hall.

If you are coming and can’t find us we will be monitoring 145.500Mhz or call me on the mobile.

Monday 09/07/2012

I managed to complete the wiring of our desk mic to work with the clubs Kenwood TS-2000. While local reports all confirmed good audio time will tell when we get some DX.

Paul showed us his Alinco HF receiver which seemed to work very well on the main antenna at the Scout hut.

Chris purchased a couple of voice recorder boards from the internet and he showed us one working in a temporary configuration.

Denis and I were looking at a couple of funcube dongles and trying to work out how to get them to work.

The Kenwood TS-2000 was out and being operated for most of the evening.

Once again another fun packed evening at the Banstead Scout hall.

Monday 02/07/2012

July already, the weeks seem to be rushing past but we are still playing. This Monday was no exception which turned into a busy evening.

Denis was playing with his Fun Cube Dongle down one end of the hall. Chris and John were playing with Johns new Yaesu FT-817. This is a great first choice radio.

The Boy and Alan were operating the Kenwood TS-2000 with reasonable success.

Steve and I repaired my Morse code oscillator; I should have changed the power connector years ago. We then started rewiring a PMR desk mic to work with the TS-2000. All the button work now but we ran out of time before we got the audio input to work.

All this as well at tea, coffee and biscuits.

Monday 25/06/2012

Monday, another busy session at the Scout hall again this week. Chris, Tim and I went to look at a new operating site before returning back to the Scout hall.

We did some HF operating and playing with other bits of gear. I really enjoy these sessions because it allows me to catch up with friends and play radio.

All are welcome to join us between 20:00 and 22:30 on
